Dear Support,

If Our current Epicor‑bundled Runtime SQL licenses do not include Software Assurance, Whether our current licensing model allows us to run a passive SQL failover server without additional cost, or if a new license is mandatory even for passive/manual failover.

Thanks.

Regards,
Nizam

Hi @MUHAMMAD NIZAM BIN MASRI ,

If your Epicor-bundled SQL Runtime license does not include Software Assurance, the passive failover benefit is not included. In Microsoft SQL Server licensing, running a passive failover server without additional licensing is only allowed when Software Assurance is active on the primary server.

So in this case, a separate SQL Runtime license would typically be required for the failover server, even if it is only used for passive/manual failover. It’s also recommended to confirm with Epicor or your licensing partner, since bundled runtime licenses can have application-specific restrictions.

    Thanks,
    Akhil.
