    Hi Natsja,

May I know if it is a Microsoft 365 for Business account or Microsoft 365 Personal/Family? The steps for refund are different for both.

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

A refund cannot be processed directly here, but the subscription and charge can be checked and a refund requested using the Microsoft account and support tools.

    Use these steps:

    1. Confirm which account was charged
      • Go to the Microsoft Subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account that was charged.
      • Check which Microsoft 365 or other subscriptions are listed and whether recurring billing is turned on.
    2. Check why the charge occurred
      • If a subscription shows Turn on recurring billing instead of Manage, it is already set to expire and will not be charged again.
      • If recurring billing is on, the yearly payment may have been taken automatically even if the company also paid.
    3. Cancel the duplicate personal subscription and check refund eligibility
      • On the Services & subscriptions page, find the subscription that was charged to the personal account and select Manage.
      • Select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel) and follow the on‑screen steps.
      • For Microsoft 365 Basic, Personal, Family, or Premium bought from Microsoft, cancellation is required first to check refund eligibility.
      • If in Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Israel, Korea, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, or Turkey, a prorated refund may apply depending on subscription length and renewal status.
    4. Verify whether a refund was issued
      • Open the Order history page: https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders.
      • Find the subscription order; if eligible and processed, the refund status will be shown there.
      • If a refund is shown but not yet in the bank account, wait a few days for the payment provider to process it.
    5. If the charge is not recognized or there is no refund entry
      • Use the Manage your payments page from the Microsoft account dashboard to investigate the charge.
      • If the charge still appears incorrect or duplicate with the company’s payment, contact Microsoft Support (Billing and payments) so an agent can review the account and payments and process any eligible refund.

If the subscription was purchased through Google Play or Apple App Store instead of directly from Microsoft, cancellation and refund must be requested from Google or Apple support.
