Account status, refunds, and charges cannot be checked or changed here because there is no access to personal billing data.
To review charges, restore the subscription, and request a refund if eligible, follow these steps:
- Check current subscriptions and charges
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the same Microsoft account used for Microsoft 365.
- Under Services & subscriptions, look for:
- Any active Microsoft 365 subscription (for example, Microsoft 365 Basic, Personal, Family, or Premium).
- Any recently cancelled subscription.
- The billing dates and prices to see if there is more than one active subscription.
- Check if a refund is possible
- Cancel extra or duplicate subscriptions
If there is more than one Microsoft 365 subscription listed and only one is needed:
- On https://account.microsoft.com/services, find the subscription not needed.
- Select Manage.
- Select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel) and follow the on‑screen steps.
- This prevents additional charges.
- Restore or keep Microsoft 365 active
- If the subscription shows Turn on recurring billing, turning it on will keep the subscription active and prevent interruption.
- If the subscription is expired or cancelled, a new subscription can be purchased from the same page under Services & subscriptions.
- When a refund may be prorated
- In some countries (for example, Canada, Israel, Korea, Turkey, Denmark, Finland, Germany for certain purchases, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal), cancelling may provide a prorated refund depending on subscription length. Details are in the “Countries with prorated refunds” section linked from the refund article.
- Contact Microsoft support to speak with someone
For help from a person (chat or call back):
- Go to the Microsoft support page: Contact Microsoft Support.
- Enter a short description such as “Microsoft 365 billing refund and duplicate charge”.
- Select Get Help.
- If the automated help does not solve the issue, choose Contact Support.
- Select the product category Microsoft 365 & Office and then Manage my subscription.
- Choose Chat or Call back and provide a phone number so a support agent can call.
For future questions, the same Contact Support page can always be used to reach Microsoft 365 Customer Service for home subscriptions.
