Hello,

I want to create a free account in Azure, and I added my bank account info, but I got the error ***"*Check that the details in all fields are correct or try a different card." I tried three different bank accounts, but I still have the same issue. Could you please help me?

Hello Reza, it looks like you’re running into a common signup hiccup: the Azure free trial only accepts credit or debit cards (Visa/Mastercard), not direct bank-account numbers or prepaid/virtual cards. That “Check that the details in all fields are correct or try a different card” message is often Azure’s way of saying the payment instrument isn’t supported or the card was previously used on another free account.

    Here’s what you can try:

    1. Use a supported card
      • Must be a credit or debit card (no prepaid/virtual cards)
      • Visa or Mastercard are your best bets
      • American Express isn’t supported in some regions (for example, India)
    2. Verify all card details
      • Name, billing address, card number, expiration and CVV must match exactly what your bank has on file
      • Make sure international transactions and recurring payments are enabled on the card
      • Ensure there’s sufficient credit/funds to cover the temporary verification hold
    3. Try a different, unused card
      • If the card was used for another Azure free trial, it can’t be reused for a new one
      • Grab a brand-new (to Azure) credit/debit card
    4. Rule out browser issues
      • Sign in in an InPrivate/Incognito window
      • Clear cookies/cache or try a different browser
    5. If you absolutely need to use a bank account (ACH/wire), you must switch to an invoice-billing subscription instead of the free trial. See “Pay for Azure subscriptions by invoice” below.

Follow-up questions to narrow this down:

    • Are you actually adding a credit/debit card or attempting to enter your bank account number?

    • What card type are you using (credit vs debit), and is it enabled for international transactions?

    • Has this exact card ever been used for an Azure free trial before?

    • Are you seeing any additional error codes or messages beyond the one you shared?

Azure free account sign-up requires a supported credit or debit card, not a bank account. Virtual or prepaid cards and unsupported cards are rejected with generic errors like the one described.

    To resolve the issue:

    1. Use a supported payment method
      • Ensure a credit or debit card is being used, not a bank account-only payment method.
      • Prepaid and virtual cards are not accepted for Azure subscriptions.
    2. Verify card and billing details
      • Confirm the name, address, and CVV exactly match what is printed on the card and on the bank statement.
      • The billing address country/region must match the country/region selected in the About you section during sign-up.
    3. Check card and bank status
      • Confirm with the bank that:
        • The card is active and not blocked.
        • International transactions are enabled (if applicable).
        • There is sufficient balance/credit and no card limit issues.
    4. Browser and sign-up flow checks
      • If the error appears at the identity verification by card step and the progress hangs, allow third‑party cookies in the browser, refresh the page, or restart the browser and try again.
    5. If still blocked
      • If multiple valid cards fail and all details are correct, follow the guidance in the Azure payment troubleshooting article and, if needed, create a support request from the Azure portal so the Azure Billing/Subscription team can review the sign-up/payment block on the account.
