unable able to select multiple pages in word

Question

why am i unable to select multiple pages in word. I try the selecting a page and using the shift key but its not working

You can select a text range by (left-)clicking where you want the selection to begin and then hold Shift as you (left-)click at the end of the range.

I am not aware of a way to select pages one by one. You can do that in PowerPoint, though.
