I tried both these solutions and after restarting Outlook I was not asked to sign in again. I continue to get the error message that the mailbox cannot sync to the server.
Gmail no longer working in Outlook Classic since yesterday's Edge update. Icloud emails still work
Gmail account no longer works in Outlook Classic, yet my icloud account does. Get 0x800CCC0E error code. Internet is working fine. Can get gmail on my iphone but not my PC. This happened yesterday after Microsoft Edge update.

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.
I understand how frustrating this is, especially when your Gmail account suddenly stops syncing in classic Outlook while it continues to work on your phone and through webmail.
Based on the error code 0x800CCC0E and the symptoms you described, this issue matches a known issue currently affecting Gmail (IMAP) accounts in classic Outlook for Windows. In this situation, Outlook may stop syncing because the stored sign‑in credentials are no longer refreshed, and Outlook does not prompt you to sign in again.
As a workaround, the Outlook team has published guidance that involves clearing the affected Gmail OAuth credentials from Windows so Outlook can prompt for a fresh sign‑in. Since the steps include working with Credential Manager (and, in some cases, the registry), it’s recommended to follow the official article carefully: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/users-get-errors-0x800ccc0e-0x800ccc0f-synchronizing-gmail-and-yahoo-accounts-in-classic-outlook-e5a7b684-7c5c-4848-ab2d-d48291451f67
After completing the workaround steps in that article, restart Outlook and sign in again when prompted. Sync should resume once the credentials are refreshed.
Please try the steps outlined in the article and let me know how it goes.
