    Dear Shawn Flannigan

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum. I understand you are having problems with all Notes missing in Classic Outlook for Windows. I am happy to assist you. Are your Notes visible in Outlook on the web > Notes folder, or are they missing there too?

    Meanwhile, please follow these steps:

    • Restore the Notes view
      • In Classic Outlook, open Notes directly by selecting More Apps on the Navigation Bar > Notes, or use the Notes shortcut (Ctrl+5).
      • If Notes appears, right-click Notes > Pin so it stays visible.
    • Reset the Outlook Navigation Pane
      • Close Outlook > Windows + R > run: outlook.exe /resetnavpane > reopen Outlook and check Notes again.
    • Verify the Notes still exist in the mailbox
      • Sign in to Outlook on the web and open the Notes folder to confirm the notes exist.
    • Isolate profile corruption
      • Create a new Outlook profile (Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles > Add), then add the same account and re-check Notes.

I hope these steps help. Please let me know how it goes. Have a lovely day!

In Classic Outlook for Windows, missing Notes can often be recovered if they were deleted or moved.

    1. Check the Deleted Items folder
      • In Outlook, go to the Deleted Items folder.
      • Look for items of type Note (they may show with a note icon or as messages, depending on view).
      • If found, drag them back to the Notes view or right‑click and choose Move → select the Notes folder.
    2. Recover Notes that were hard‑deleted (if available)
      • Select the Deleted Items folder.
      • On the ribbon, select Recover Deleted Items (name/location can vary slightly by version; it opens the Recoverable Items window).
      • In the Recover Deleted Items window:
        • Sort by Subject, Deleted On, or From to help locate the missing Notes.
        • Select the items to restore (use Ctrl+Click or Shift+Click for multiple items).
        • Select Restore Selected Items.
      • Restored items go back to their original folders when possible; Notes will return to the Notes area if the original folder still exists.
    3. If Notes were stored in a PST file
      • If Windows was reinstalled or a profile was recreated, Notes may be in an old Outlook Data File (.pst).
      • Locate any .pst files (for example under C:\Users<username>\Documents\Outlook Files\).
      • In Outlook: FileOpen & ExportOpen Outlook Data File → select the PST.
      • After opening, check the Notes folder in that data file and move items into the current mailbox if needed.

If Notes do not appear in Deleted Items, Recoverable Items, or any available PST backups, they are likely permanently deleted and cannot be restored.
