I have a HP Elitedesk 800 G3 Mini and I noticed that it passes all the requirements for Windows 11 update, but the only intel core generation not supported on the list is of course the i5, 7th generation..

is there any chance that will eventually be on the list, or is there a way around it?

Thanks in advance

    Hi,

Unfortunately, the processor doesn't meet the requirements. According to reports, Microsoft hasn't indicated that it will make 6th and 7th generation processors compatible.

I don't recommend installing Windows 11 unofficially, bypassing the requirements that Microsoft has already stated. Computers that don't meet the requirements will stop receiving updates and support from Microsoft, as mentioned in the link below:

I'm sorry, but you can stay on Windows 10 and sign up for ESU to receive security updates.

Intel 7th generation Core processors are not on the supported CPU lists for any Windows 11 versions, and there is no indication in the provided information that additional older generations (such as 7th gen Core) will be added later.

The supported processor lists for Windows 11 (including versions 22H2, 23H2, 24H2, 25H2, and 26H1) are defined around specific security, reliability, and minimum system requirement principles, and are intended for OEMs to use when building new Windows 11 devices. These lists are updated when new Windows versions are released, but they extend forward to newer CPUs, not backward to add older generations.

For a PC that does not have a supported processor, the documented path is to stay on Windows 10 (supported through October 14, 2025) or move to a new PC that meets Windows 11 requirements. Devices with unsupported chipsets (for example, Intel Clover Trail) are explicitly called out as not being supported on Windows 10 or newer, and the recommendation in such cases is to move to a new PC with Windows 11.

There is no supported “workaround” in the context that allows adding an unsupported CPU (such as 7th gen Core) to the Windows 11 supported list. Upgrade eligibility is determined by the official system requirements and the supported processor lists.

If the current PC is not eligible and a newer device is not yet an option, Windows 10 remains supported until October 14, 2025.
