I was receiving the error code 0x800ccc0e when clicking to receive new emails for my default gmail account. After trying a few things, I chose to delete the account then add it back, but now I cannot add it back. I am using Classic Outlook on my MS365 account. I tried adding a different gmail account that I have, and that one was successfully added. How can I add back my gmail account to my outlook given the above information.

    Hi BethAnn Morrison

From what you described, your Gmail account was working in Classic Outlook before, but after removing it to troubleshoot, you’re now unable to add that same account back. I understand how frustrating this is.

Have you already tried all the steps suggested in the Q&A Assist reply?

Microsoft has acknowledged a recent issue affecting some Gmail and Yahoo accounts in classic Outlook, including error 0x800CCC0E, and the issue is still under investigation. Please try the official workaround here: Users get errors 0x800CCC0E & 0x800CCC0F synchronizing Gmail and Yahoo accounts in classic Outlook - Microsoft Support

If any step in the workaround is unclear, please let me know so I can guide you further.

Meanwhile, please try the additional steps:

    1, Force restart Outlook

    • Close Outlook completely
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, find "Outlook" in the list, right-click it, and select End Task to ensure no background processes are still running. Or restart Windows first, then open Outlook.

2, Start Outlook in safe mode (rules out add-ins)

    • Close Outlook completely
    • Press Windows + R > type: outlook.exe /safe > press Enter
    • If it's stable in Safe Mode, an add-in is the likely trigger. In that case, disable add-ins in normal mode and re-enable them one by one.
      • Go to File > Options > Add‑ins > Manage: COM Add‑ins > Go…
        • Uncheck all unnecessary add‑ins, restart Outlook and re-enable one by one to find the culprit.

3, Test on Outlook on the web

Thank you for your time and understanding.

Follow these steps in order, focusing on the specific Gmail account that no longer adds back into Classic Outlook.

    1. Confirm Outlook is on a fixed build
    • The issue with adding Gmail to Classic Outlook is fixed starting with Current Channel Version 2412 Build 18324.20168.
    • In Outlook, go to File > Office Account and check the version/build.
    • If the build is older, run Update Options > Update Now, then retry adding the Gmail account.
    1. Re-run the Google consent with full access (if prompted)
    • When adding the Gmail account, during the browser sign-in, ensure the box is checked for:
      • “Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail.” under Microsoft apps & services can access.
    • If the account was added before without this permission, and Outlook shows a Retry option on the error dialog, select Retry to repeat the browser sign-in and grant that permission.
    1. Use the manual workaround for the failing Gmail account If the above does not work for this specific Gmail account, use the manual cleanup steps for that account only.

Step 1: Remove Microsoft Apps & Services access in this Gmail account

    1. Close Outlook.
    2. Sign in to the problematic Gmail account at google.com.
    3. Select the profile picture > Manage your Google Account.
    4. In the left menu, select Security.
    5. Scroll to Your connections to third-party apps & services and select Microsoft apps & services.
    6. Under Microsoft apps & services has some access to your Google Account, select See details.
    7. Under Access you've given to Microsoft apps & services, select Remove all access.
    8. Select Confirm.

Step 2: Delete this Gmail account’s IMAP credentials from Windows Credential Manager

    1. From the Windows Start menu, search for Credential Manager and open it (on Windows 10 this may be under Control Panel).
    2. Select Windows Credentials.
    3. Under Generic Credentials, locate entries starting with MicrosoftOffice16_Data:OAUTH2.
    4. Expand each one and hover over MicrosoftOffice16_Data:OAUTH2 until the full name shows tp_google_imap_Oauth2. These are the Google IMAP credentials.
    5. Remove the two MicrosoftOffice16_Data:OAUTH2 entries that correspond to this Gmail account.
      • To avoid removing credentials for other Gmail accounts, map them using the identities under:
        • Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity\Identities
    6. Re-add the Gmail account in Classic Outlook
    7. Start Outlook.
    8. Add the problematic Gmail account again from File > Add Account.
    9. When the Google sign-in window opens in the browser, sign in to that Gmail account.
    10. On the permissions screen, ensure the checkbox is selected for:
      • “Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail.” for Microsoft apps & services.
    11. Complete the sign-in and let Outlook finish the setup.
    12. If still failing, verify IMAP is enabled for that Gmail account
    • In a browser, sign in to that Gmail account and go to Settings > See all settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
    • Under IMAP Access, ensure Enable IMAP is selected and Save Changes.
    • Then retry adding the account in Outlook.

These steps clear the broken consent and cached OAuth credentials for the specific Gmail account and force a clean, fully-permitted connection when adding it back to Classic Outlook.
