A program that grants points for using Bing search, which users can redeem for gift cards, sweepstakes entries, or charitable donations.
Daily sets, Bing search quests, and streaks can stop working or showing for several reasons related to Microsoft Rewards account status and usage.
Based on the documented behavior, check the following:
- Verify that points can still be earned
- Make sure the account is still eligible for Microsoft Rewards in the current region and that the user is signed in with the correct Microsoft account on Bing and on the Rewards dashboard.
- Confirm that Give Mode is not turned on, because this can affect how points are counted for searches.
- Check that the daily search counter has not already been maximized for the day; once the PC/mobile counter is full, additional searches will not earn points until it resets.
- Ensure that searches are not being performed by any automated means (bots, macros, scripts) and that all activity complies with the Microsoft Services Agreement.
- Check why points for searches might not be accruing
The documented reasons for not earning points for searches include:
- Give Mode is on.
- Signed in to a different account or browser data is not syncing with the Rewards database.
- The PC/mobile search counter is already maximized for the day.
- Queries appear automated (bot, macro, or other automated means).
- The system detects attempts to earn points from outside the current market, which violates program policy.
- Understand streak behavior
- Streaks reset to zero if daily sets are not completed on time.
- Using a VPN or a device with a different time zone can cause the system not to recognize the streak, because streaks are based on the device time zone.
- Being signed into a different Microsoft account will also make it appear as if the streak is gone; the daily set should show a green checkmark when completed on the correct account.
- Use Streak protection (if available)
- If Streak protection is enabled on the account, it starts with 14 protection days per calendar year.
- When a daily task is missed while Streak protection is active, one protection day is used and the streak is preserved.
- Streak protection must be toggled on in the Rewards dashboard (on desktop next to “Streak protection,” on mobile near “Daily set”).
- Once all 14 days are used in a calendar year, no additional protection days are available until they reset at the start of the next year.
- If the issue persists
- If none of the above applies and points still are not being awarded or streaks/quests are missing after a week or more, the next step is to contact Microsoft Rewards Support so the Rewards team can review the account in detail. Use the Rewards Support page referenced in the documentation.
