storage not updated in OneDrive

I have upgraded to the basic plan for Microsoft 365 after getting a notification about storage 81% full from OneDrive. Even though I can see the plan reflected in the Microsoft 365, the storage is still not reflected in the OneDrive, and it is still prompting me to upgrade my plan even after I did just that.

I tried unlinking and linking the account, but the issue is still there.

Also I am getting a notification about 'no access permissions' for an app even after I have uninstalled said app from my device.

I would like guidance in these issues and would appreciate if the issues are resolved post haste.

For the storage not updating in OneDrive after upgrading to Microsoft 365 Basic, and the continued prompts to upgrade, use these steps:

    1. Verify the storage and subscription status
      • Go to Manage storage for OneDrive: https://onedrive.live.com/?v=managestorage
      • Confirm that the increased storage allowance from Microsoft 365 Basic is visible there.
      • It can take up to 24 hours after purchasing more storage or a subscription for the new storage allowance to be applied and visible in OneDrive.
    2. If storage still has not updated after waiting
      • Since unlinking and relinking the account has already been tried, wait at least 24 hours from the time of purchase and then check again.
      • If the quota still has not updated after 24–48 hours, the guidance is to contact Microsoft Support from the OneDrive help/support entry point so they can correct the subscription application on the account.
    3. When OneDrive says storage is full
      • While waiting for the quota to update, OneDrive may remain in a “nearly full” or “full” state.
      • If needed, temporarily free space by deleting files or emptying the OneDrive Recycle Bin from Manage your OneDrive storage until the new quota is applied.
    4. About the “no access permissions” notification for an app
      • That message is typically controlled by Windows User Account Control (UAC) when an app tries to make changes or when a leftover component still triggers a permission check.
      • Check UAC settings: open Settings → search for “UAC” → Change User Account Control settings and confirm they are at the desired level.
      • If the app is fully uninstalled but prompts still appear, restart the device so any pending processes or scheduled tasks are cleared. If prompts continue, review installed apps and startup items to ensure no related helper or updater component remains.

If, after 24–48 hours, the OneDrive storage still does not reflect the Microsoft 365 Basic plan and upgrade prompts continue, direct support intervention is required to fix the subscription mapping on the account.
