We are unable to see Reserved Instance and Right-Sizing recommendations in Azure Advisor.

Is this a known issue or platform change affecting multiple tenants?

    Hello Navinesh Nadar,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

It sounds like you’re expecting to see both Reserved Instance (RI) purchase recommendations and Right-Sizing (under-utilized VM) recommendations in Azure Advisor, but those aren’t showing up. Here are the most common reasons and things to check:

You’re looking in the right place?

    • Go to Azure Advisor > Cost tab for cost-optimization recommendations (RI and right-size live here).

    • RI purchase recs also show up under the Reservations blade (click “Add” to see scoped billing-profile or billing-account recommendations).

    Subscription type and permissions

    • Cost recommendations are supported for Enterprise Agreement (EA) customers. If you’re on Pay-As-You-Go (MCA), CSP or another offer, RI recommendations still appear but rightsizing requires the Cost tab in Advisor.

    • You need at least “Reader” on the subscription or resource group to view cost recs.

    • Verify you haven’t scoped Advisor to an empty set of subscriptions via the portal’s global filter.

    Sufficient usage data

    • Right-Sizing (VM/VMSS) recs require at least 14 days of continuous VM activity.

    • Reservation recs use a 30-day look-back. If you recently spun up VMs, wait until that window completes.

    Advisor configuration filters

    • Advisor lets you filter VM right-size recommendations by average CPU utilization. If someone set a high filter (say 80%), and your VMs run at 30–40%, Advisor may hide those suggestions.

    • From any Advisor page click “Configuration” > “VM/VMSS right sizing” and confirm or lower the CPU threshold.

    Shared-scope reservations vs. single-subscription

    • Advisor only shows single-subscription scope recs under Cost. If you’re purchasing shared scope, go to Reservations > Add.

    • After you buy a shared-scope RI, Advisor can take up to 5 days to remove the recommendation once it’s no longer needed.
