Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Hi, CuriousTVI
This usually happens because the 25-character key only works the first time, after that it gets tied to the Microsoft account used during setup, so the real problem is finding or recovering that account, not reusing the same key again.
Here are some suggestions you can try:
Try Microsoft’s username lookup or Sign-in Helper first. If you added a backup phone number or recovery email, it can show a hint of the old account address, which is often enough to get back in.
If that fails, fill out the account recovery form using any email address you can still access. The form lets you give extra details about the account, and Microsoft says more complete answers improve the chance of recovery.
If Office is still installed on an old PC, open Word or Excel, then go to File > Account and check the “belongs to” email. That can reveal the account linked to the license.
Keep the box, card, receipt, and proof of purchase ready if you contact Microsoft support. They usually cannot tell you the full key again or change account details directly, but this proof can still help if they need to verify the purchase and guide you to the correct recovery path.
Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.
