How to solve this issue

Question

A few days back i installed an program and when i want to open its not opening i thought its a glitch and uninstalled it. And from yesterday im unable to open basic apps apart from browser and settings. Ive done restarting but no use. And when im the administrator its says im not when i want to uninstall apps. and some popups are cmg like error path not found. i even went to reset but then also im not able to do it. please solve this

Hi Jahanvi,

It seems like Windows is broken. Please try a repair install as the next step. It keeps everything, including apps and files, and reinstalls Windows. The following should solve it:

Repair Install Windows 11 using an ISO file

1. Download Windows 11 ISO file from the following link:

2. Under Download ISO file, select Windows 11.
3. Click Download and choose the Language in which Windows is installed.
4. Click 64-bit Download to start the download.
5. When downloaded, open the ISO file, and run Setup.exe to start the upgrade.

A Windows MVP writes content on the above website, so it is safe. However, do watch out for the ads. It should translate into your Browser language automatically.

Based on the symptoms, core Windows apps and installed programs are failing to open and normal repair/uninstall paths are not working. When apps won’t start or repair, and reset also fails, the supported next steps are:

1. Try repairing affected apps from Settings
   • Select Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
   • Select an app that is not opening.
   • Select Advanced options (if available).
   • On the page that opens, select Repair. If that doesn’t fix it or isn’t available, select Reset.
   • Repeat for other affected apps.
2. Repair desktop programs from Control Panel
   • In the taskbar search box, type control panel and open Control Panel.
   • Go to Programs > Programs and Features.
   • Right‑click the program that will not open and select Repair. If Repair is not available, select Change and follow the on‑screen directions.
3. If key apps still will not open
   • For Microsoft 365/Office apps (Word, Outlook, etc.), fully uninstall and reinstall has been shown to resolve “won’t open” issues when repair/reset fails.
   • Use the normal uninstall from Settings or Control Panel, then reinstall from the subscription/account page.
4. If system corruption prevents uninstall/repair/reset
   • When multiple core components are broken and standard tools cannot run or complete, the supported remediation is a Windows reset while keeping personal files:
     • Open Settings > System > Recovery.
     • Under Recovery options, select Reset this PC.
     • Choose Keep my files (removes apps and settings but keeps personal files).
     • Choose Cloud download or Local reinstall and complete the process.
   • If problems persist even after this, a full factory reset (clean install) is the remaining supported option.

If the system is so damaged that Settings and reset cannot run at all, contact Microsoft Support or the device manufacturer to perform a guided reset or clean installation.
