Hello Smitrajsinh, it sounds like you’re running into the student-verification step when you sign up for Azure for Students and it isn’t recognizing your account. Here are a few things to check and try:

    1. Make sure you’re using a school-issued email that’s eligible
      • For Azure for Students Starter (high-school/K-12), you need a valid institution email or Shibboleth login.
      • Log in at https://portal.azure.com → click your account → Your info → verify that your school email is listed and marked “Verified.”
    2. If your school email isn’t accepted or you don’t have one, use the GitHub Student Developer Pack path
      • Sign in with GitHub at https://signup.azure.com/studentverification?offerType=1
      • On the GitHub sign-in page, use your GitHub username (not email)
      • In your GitHub Settings → Emails, verify the same email you want to use in Azure
      • Activate the Student Developer Pack and grab the verification code, then paste it back into the Azure sign-up flow
    3. Check eligibility constraints
      • Are you above the minimum age (13 US, 16 other countries)?
      • Have you already had an Azure for Students Starter subscription (limited to one per customer)?
      • This offer is only for K-12/high-school students—if you’re a higher-ed student, sign up for the higher-ed Azure for Students offer instead.
    4. Browser/troubleshooting tips
      • Try an Incognito/InPrivate window (or clear cookies)
      • Disable ad-blockers or strict tracking filters
      • If you see a specific error code or message, let us know what it says

If you’re still stuck, could you share a few more details?

    • Are you trying for the Starter offer (K-12) or the higher-ed Azure for Students offer?

    • What country are you signing up from?

    • Do you have a school-issued email address (and is it already verified in your Microsoft account)?

    • If you’ve tried the GitHub path, what exactly happened when you submitted the code?

With those details we can point you to the exact next step. Good luck, and let us know!

The message means the Azure for Students academic verification is failing. Use these steps to resolve it as quickly as possible:

    1. Confirm basic eligibility
      • Must be 18 or older.
      • Must be a full‑time student at an accredited 2‑ or 4‑year degree‑granting institution.
      • Offer is limited to one Azure for Students subscription per eligible person.
If any of these are not true, the verification will continue to fail.
    2. Use the correct account and email
      • Sign in with a Microsoft account that uses the same institutional email address you want to verify (for example, ******@university.edu).
      • If needed, first create a Microsoft account with your university email or add your university email to an existing Microsoft account:
        1. Go to the Microsoft account sign‑in page.
        2. Sign in.
        3. Go to Your infoManage how you sign in to Microsoft.
        4. Add your university email and verify it.
    3. Start Azure for Students sign‑up again
      • After the email is correctly associated and verified, go back to the Azure for Students offer page and restart the sign‑up.
      • Make sure to:
        • Enter accurate personal details.
        • Use the verified university email for academic verification.
    4. If academic verification still fails
      • Some schools or email domains may not be recognized by the automated system.
      • Try any alternative verification option offered on the page (for example, “verify in a different way”) and provide accurate information.
      • If all automated methods fail and you meet the eligibility requirements, contact Microsoft support from another working account and request help with Azure for Students academic verification.

Until the academic status is successfully verified, the Azure for Students subscription cannot be activated and student benefits (including credits) will not be available.
