I have rechargeable Phonak hearing aids that will pair with my iPhone but not with my school managed laptop running Windows 11. What are some possible lissues?

Can you go to Windows Settings > BLuetooth & devices > Devices.

Scroll down a bit, in the "Device settings" section, do you see "Use LE Audio when available", if so, make sure it is turned on. Then try to pair. You might need to go to your phone's bluetooth settings and totally forget/remove it first.

If this LE audio option is not visiable, it means your Windows device doesn't support it. Further instruction: https://support.microsoft.com/windows/check-if-a-windows-11-device-supports-bluetooth-low-energy-audio-2b79c085-0353-4467-8306-ebb2657a91de

    Possible issues include:

    1. Bluetooth pairing mode on the hearing aids
Phonak hearing aids must be in the correct pairing/discoverable mode for Windows, which can differ from how they pair to an iPhone. If not in pairing mode, Windows 11 will not see them. Follow the manufacturer/audiologist instructions to put them into Bluetooth pairing mode specifically for a computer.
    2. Using the wrong pairing workflow in Windows 11
For LE Audio hearing devices, Windows 11 expects pairing through Bluetooth settings or Quick Settings:
      • Select the Network/Sound/Battery icon on the taskbar.
      • Select Manage Bluetooth devices in the Bluetooth tile.
      • Turn on the hearing aids and make them discoverable.
      • Select them when they appear under New devices. If the devices support Swift Pair, a notification should appear when they are in pairing mode; then select Connect.
    3. Device not actually connecting, only listed as paired
A device can show as paired but fail to connect. In that case:
      • Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
      • If the hearing aids are listed but will not connect, select More options (… ) > Remove device.
      • Select Add device, then choose the hearing aids again and complete pairing.
    4. Bluetooth off or out of range / low battery
      • In Settings > Bluetooth & devices, ensure the Bluetooth toggle is on.
      • Move the hearing aids close to the laptop.
      • Fully charge the rechargeable hearing aids; some devices will not enter pairing mode or maintain a connection when the battery is low.
    5. School management or policy restrictions
On a school‑managed Windows 11 device, IT policies can restrict Bluetooth pairing with certain classes of devices. This can prevent new audio devices from being added even though Bluetooth is present. In that case, only the school IT administrator can change the policy.
    6. General Bluetooth configuration/driver issues
If Bluetooth appears in Device Manager but pairing fails with any device, Windows may have a configuration, driver, or service issue. On Windows 11, the recommended steps are:
      • Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter in the Get Help app (it automatically checks and fixes many Bluetooth problems).
      • If the troubleshooter does not help, follow the general Bluetooth troubleshooting guidance in Fix Bluetooth problems in Windows.

If the hearing aids pair and connect but there is no sound or poor audio, then Windows may be using the wrong output device or audio format, and the steps in Fix Bluetooth connected but no sound issue on Windows apply (selecting the hearing aids as the output device and, if needed, unpairing and re‑pairing).
