For classic Outlook with Gmail accounts that suddenly stop working and cannot be re‑added, use the documented manual workaround for Gmail + Outlook classic.

Follow these steps in order:

1. Close Outlook completely.
2. Remove Outlook’s access in the Google account
   1. Sign in to the Gmail/Google account in a browser at https://www.google.com.
   2. Select the profile picture (top-right) > Manage your Google Account.
   3. In the left menu, select Security.
   4. Scroll to Your connections to third-party apps & services and select Microsoft apps & services.
   5. Find Microsoft apps & services has some access to your Google Account and select See details.
   6. Under Access you've given to Microsoft apps & services, select Remove all access.
   7. Confirm with Confirm.
3. Delete the stored Google IMAP credentials from Windows Credential Manager
   1. Open Credential Manager from the Start menu (on some systems via Control Panel > Credential Manager).
   2. Select Windows Credentials.
   3. Under Generic Credentials, locate entries that start with MicrosoftOffice16_Data:OAUTH2.
   4. Expand each and hover over the name until the full name shows including tp_google_imap_Oauth2 – these are the Gmail credentials.
   5. For each credential whose full name includes tp_google_imap_Oauth2, select Remove. There are two such credentials per Gmail account; remove both for the affected Gmail account.
   6. (Optional, advanced) To avoid removing credentials for other Gmail accounts, map them using the identities under the registry key: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity\Identities
4. Re-add the Gmail account in Outlook
   1. Start classic Outlook.
   2. Go to File > Add Account.
   3. Enter the Gmail address and follow the sign‑in prompts.
   4. When the browser sign‑in window appears, ensure the checkbox for Microsoft apps & services is selected so Outlook can access the Gmail account.
   5. Complete sign‑in and let Outlook finish configuring the mailbox.

After these steps, the Gmail account should add successfully and start syncing again in classic Outlook.
