Charged $129 for renewal of Microsoft 365 twice in February and now saying will charge me in April

I set up my Microsoft 365 in April of 2023, renewed in April of 2024 for $99 and renewed in April of 2025 for either $119 or $129. This February I was charged through PayPal $129 twice. I brought the issue to PayPal and they did nothing so I took it to American Express. They investigated the double charge and removed one of them. I told the representative (an actual living, oxygen breathing person) that your website indicated you were going to charge me $129 again in April for renewal and I certainly didn't want to pay AGAIN. They said they would block any payment to you through PayPal, which I assume they did. If I already paid for the renewal, I certainly don't want to pay again, but I need the service for my business. Can someone (a living, oxygen breathing person) straighten this out for me.

Thank you,

Roberta Mechler

    Hi, I'm John!

Disclaimer: Microsoft Q&A is public, and we can only provide information. It is beyond our capability to assist directly with billing-related issues.

Please know that if AmEx reversed one charge, Microsoft may still see that as unpaid, which can trigger another billing attempt.

To help narrow down the issue:

    Confirm your subscription status:

Check if you have duplicate subscriptions:

    • Sometimes this happens if: You subscribed twice (PayPal + direct card), Or created a second Microsoft account.
    • Do you see more than one Microsoft 365 subscription listed there?

    Check payment methods:

    About the April charge:

    • If your renewal shows April, it means Microsoft still sees an active auto-renew schedule, even if February was charged
    • What does it show exactly for “Next charge” on your account?

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Regards,

    John J.D.

Do you not have any living, oxygen breathing customer service representatives to address problems your customers experience due to your errors?
