    Hi Michael T,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum. I'm happy to help.

If you permanently deleted File Explorer and your user data, the convenient way is performing a clean install using a bootable USB.

You can make bootable USB on another computer, then use it on your computer.

Please give me the Windows version you're using, I will give you a step-by-step guide.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi, I'm John!

File Explorer is part of Windows. It’s not something you install separately. If it’s gone, it usually means system files are damaged or removed.

    Try this first:

    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc (open Task Manager)
    • Click File > Run new task
    • Type: explorer.exe
    • Hit Enter

    Does File Explorer open?

If issue persists, could you tell me a little more about the issue?

    1. How did you delete it? (manually, script, reset, etc.)
    2. Are you still able to see the desktop and taskbar?
    3. Do you get any error when opening explorer.exe?

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Regards,

    John J.D.
