Hi Audrea Thompson,
I understand how frustrating it can be when your audio settings look correct but you’re still not getting any sound.
Please start by trying the above suggested guidance for basic troubleshooting. If the issue persists, please try the following:
Step 1: Restart the Windows audio services
This refreshes the Windows audio components in case they’re stuck or not responding.
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, then press Enter.
- Find Windows Audio > right‑click > Restart.
- Find Windows Audio Endpoint Builder > right‑click > Restart.
- Restart your PC and test audio again.
Step 2: Disable audio enhancements
Audio enhancements can sometimes interfere with playback depending on the device/driver.
- Open Control Panel > Sound.
- On the Playback tab, select your speakers/headphones, then choose Properties > Enhancements.
- Check Disable all enhancements, apply the changes, then test the audio again.
Step 3: Update the sound driver
This helps if the driver installation is corrupted or incomplete. Reinstalling the driver allows Windows to load a clean copy of the audio components.
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right‑click your audio device then select Uninstall device.
- Restart the PC. Windows should reinstall the audio driver automatically after restart.
If Windows reports that the best driver is already installed but the issue continues, a newer driver may still be available from the device manufacturer’s support site. Installing the OEM‑provided audio driver can help in some cases.
