I would like to be refunded for the Personal account or prorated on what I have left? Buy the business account promotion you have going on. Currently with Business standard plus and business copilot. I purchased my HP ZBook computer and bought a personal subscription but I do not like the way one drive consumes my file system with my Microsoft Personal account on my business computer. I'm opening a business in Thailand, so I tried a Business Trial, I would like to tansfer/prorate my Personal [Moderator note: personal info removed] @outlook.com to ([Moderator note: personal info removed]@4ddrones.live) business trial is started only if i get the business account monthly promotion you have going on Currently with Business Standard And Copilot Business $22 a month 35% off.

    Hi BJK,

I understand you’re looking to move from a Microsoft 365 personal subscription to a business subscription and would like to know whether any remaining value can be transferred or prorated.

At this time, personal and business subscriptions are managed separately by Microsoft. As a result:

Personal subscriptions can’t be transferred, merged, or prorated into business subscriptions.

Personal (consumer) accounts can’t be converted into business (work) accounts.

The recommended approach is to cancel the personal subscription and proceed with the Business plan. You can also refer to the guidance shared earlier by the Q&A Assistant.

    For official details, please see:

    Cancel a Microsoft 365 subscription

Please note that refund eligibility depends on the purchase timing and applicable terms. To check whether you qualify for a refund, I recommend contacting Microsoft Support:

    • Go to Contact Microsoft Support
    • Search for Contact Support, then select Get help > Contact Support
    • Choose Microsoft 365 and Office > Manage my subscription
    • Select Confirm, then choose Chat with a support agent > Confirm

Note: Chat support is available during specific business hours. If chat isn’t available, please try again later.

Regarding OneDrive, if you’re using a Personal account on a work device, you can unlink it by going to:

OneDrive icon > Settings > Account > Unlink this PC, then sign in with your business account only.

I hope this helps clarify the situation. If you have any follow-up questions, please feel free to comment.

A personal Microsoft 365 subscription cannot be directly transferred or converted into a Microsoft 365 for business subscription, and licenses also cannot be moved between a personal Microsoft account and a work account (such as @4ddrones.live). The supported path is:

    1. Set up and purchase the Microsoft 365 business subscription
      • Follow the guidance in “Switch from an individual Microsoft 365 subscription to Microsoft 365 for business” to move from Microsoft 365 Personal to a business subscription and to understand options for working with a Microsoft 365 business partner or Microsoft product experts if help is needed.
      • This covers moving from Microsoft 365 Personal/Family to a business plan such as Business Standard and then assigning licenses to the business account.
    2. Migrate data from the personal account to the business account
      • Files: Use the “Migrate data to my Microsoft 365 for business subscription” steps to move OneDrive files from the personal account to OneDrive for work. This involves syncing both OneDrive accounts to the device and dragging/dropping files between them.
      • Email, contacts, calendar: Export from Outlook using a .pst file and then import into the Outlook profile connected to the business account, as described in:
        • “Export emails, contacts, and calendar items to Outlook using a .pst file”
        • “Import email, contacts, and calendar from an Outlook .pst file”
      • The personal account and its data can remain active; only the subscription and where files are stored change.
    3. Handle the existing Personal subscription (refund/proration)
      • To request a refund or prorated credit on the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, use the standard subscription-refund process:
        • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the personal Microsoft account.
        • Locate the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, choose Manage, then Cancel.
        • Follow the on-screen steps. Eligibility for a refund or prorated refund depends on region and timing; details are in “How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription.”
      • If automatic refund/proration is not offered or the situation is complex (e.g., overlapping charges), contact Microsoft Support directly using the “Contact Microsoft Support”/“Contact product experts online” options in the referenced articles.
    4. About promotions and pricing (e.g., $22/month 35% off Business Standard + Copilot)
      • Eligibility for specific promotional pricing, including bundled Business Standard and Copilot Business offers, is handled at purchase time and can vary by market and time.
      • For confirmation of the current promotion, eligibility, and whether it can be applied when moving from a Personal subscription, contact Microsoft directly:
        • Use the “Contact product experts online” option for small business sales help.
        • Or use “Contact Microsoft Support” and choose the Billing and Payment / Manage my subscription category.
    5. Key points for the scenario described
      • The personal subscription on the HP ZBook cannot be “transferred” to the @4ddrones.live tenant, but the data can be migrated.
      • The personal subscription can be canceled and may be eligible for a refund or prorated refund according to the refund policy.
      • The business trial can be converted to a paid Business Standard (and Copilot Business) subscription; any promotional pricing and combining that with a refund for the personal plan must be confirmed with Microsoft billing/sales support.
