Hi Jon Cook,
Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.
I understand how concerning it can be when you are trying to locate emails from previous years, especially when you are unsure whether they are still available in your Outlook account.
I see there is already a Q&A Assist response in this thread that outlines the standard ways to locate older emails in Outlook.com, such as using search filters, checking Archive and Deleted Items, and reviewing recovery options. That guidance is technically accurate for Outlook.com accounts. Have you had a chance to try those steps yet?
Please note that this is a public, user-to-user support forum, so contributors here cannot access Microsoft backend systems or view/restore mailbox data directly; however, you can share what you observe, and we can help you narrow down the most relevant checks based on your setup.
I would like to add a bit more context that may help set expectations and guide what to check next:
- For Outlook.com (personal Microsoft accounts), emails remain accessible as long as they still exist in folders such as Inbox, Archive, or Deleted Items. Older emails are often automatically moved to the Archive folder, so that is an important place to review if you have not already.
- If emails were deleted in the past, they may only be recoverable for a limited time from Deleted Items or the “Recover items deleted from this folder” option. Once emails are permanently deleted and outside the recovery window, they can no longer be restored.
- If you normally access your account on multiple devices or apps, it is also worth confirming that no rules or settings were configured that automatically moved or deleted messages over time.
If you have already searched across all folders (including Archive and Deleted Items) and do not see messages from 2024, 2025, or 2026, please let me know what you observe. I can then help you determine whether there are any additional checks worth trying based on your situation.
