Hello everyone,

We're having an issue where Word 2024 LTSC displays “Unlicensed product” in the title bar. However, the command “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16>cscript OSPP.VBS /dstatus” returns the message “—LICENSED—”. This issue does not occur every time Word 2024 LTSC is launched, making it difficult to reproduce. The license is not activated via KMS but via MAK on the various Terminal Server 2022 instances. Unfortunately, updating to the latest Office version 2408 (Build 17932.20700) did not resolve the issue. The problem first occurred with version 2408 (Build 17932.20670). Does anyone have a solution?

Best regards,

Robin

We are experiencing exactly the same problems. Also since this period.

We see in Office and in OSPP that there is an active license.

Sometimes the message disappears upon restarting the applications.

Incidentally, functionalities continue to work in the application, such as saving, etc.

Users also do not receive a warning that there is no license when starting the application.

Reactivating the license offers no added value.

    Hello Julie,

    Thank you for checking in.

We have opened a support ticket with Microsoft and are now working to find a solution. I am also in contact with five other companies in our hospital network that are experiencing the same issue. For all of them, the problem began between early and mid-February. One hospital also reports that they can reproduce the exact same error on Windows 10, Windows 11, and Terminal Server 2019.

    Best regards,

    Robin

    Dear @Robin,

Good day! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum!

Based on your description, I understand that you're experiencing an issue where Word 2024 LTSC intermittently shows 'Unlicensed product' in the title bar, even though running the OSPP command reports that the product is properly licensed. You also mentioned that activation is done using MAK on multiple Windows Server 2022 Terminal Server instances, and that updating to Office version 2408 (Build 17932.20700) did not resolve the problem. Since the issue first appeared in version 2408 (Build 17932.20670) and doesn’t occur consistently, you're looking for a solution or guidance on how to fix it.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this issue.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share these detailed observations.

Since this started occurring after updating to Version 2408 (Build 17932.20670) and persists even on the latest build, it may be tied to a deeper licensing or token-handling issue that requires further investigation.

To ensure you get the quickest and most accurate resolution, I’d recommend opening a formal support ticket with Microsoft Support. This will allow our engineering team to review detailed logs, environment specifics, and activation data about this situation.

To resolve this, Microsoft’s support team will need to step in. A Technical Support Engineer can perform a remote session to investigate the situation, verify the backend configurations, and run any necessary synchronization tools to resolve the problem. If the issue requires further attention, they can escalate it to a specialized team for deeper analysis.

We don’t have access to the detailed logs or backend systems needed to troubleshoot this effectively due to privacy and security constraints. For that reason, the most efficient solution would be to contact Microsoft’s support team directly.
