Hi JAMESM COYNE
Thank you for your post.
I can see the Q&A Assist already shared some troubleshooting steps for Outlook startup issues. To let me guide you correctly, could you please clarify what happens when you try to open Outlook:
- Does the Outlook app not open at all?
- Does Outlook open but the mailbox or folders do not load?
- Do you see any specific error message?
In the meantime, please try these additional steps:
1, Make sure Outlook isn’t stuck running in the background
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager
- Look for "Outlook" in the list, right-click it, and select End Task
- Then try reopening Outlook
2, Start Outlook in safe mode
- Close Outlook completely
- Press Windows + R > type:
outlook.exe /safe> press Enter - If it's stable in Safe Mode, an add-in is the likely trigger. In that case, disable add-ins in normal mode and re-enable them one by one.
- Go to File > Options > Add‑ins > Manage: COM Add‑ins > Go…
- Uncheck all unnecessary add‑ins, restart Outlook and re-enable one by one to find the culprit.
3, Check Outlook on the web: Sign in to Outlook on the web using a browser and see if you can open normally there.
Please feel free to let me know how it goes. Thank you for your time and understanding.
