CenturyLink webmail no longer syncs to Outlook as of Feb 25, 2026. It was working beautifully before, but now NOTHING.

I saw the problem with Gmail but could not find anything for webmail from CenturyLink's email -embarqmail.com.

Now I have been unable to even open Outlook Classic. When I click on the icon, the circle spins but nothing happens

    Just as a test:

    1 -- New Profile

    Create a new Outlook Profile.
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/create-an-outlook-profile-f544c1ba-3352-4b3b-be0b-8d42a540459d

Name it something like "New Profile 2026-03-28"

Check the box for "Prompt for a profile to be used."

When it ask you to add email accounts, add just your CenturyLink.

    Restart Outlook.

It should prompt you for which Profile to use.
    Pick the "New Profile 2026-03-28"

Does this at least get Outlook to Open?

    2 -- Safe Mode

    Open Outlook in Safe Mode
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/open-outlook-in-safe-mode-f394c2ee-b2af-e97a-64ee-35cd24414811

Does this at least get Outlook to Open?

3 -- Please report back with your results and then we'll start working on the problem of CenturyLink not syncing.

    Hello,

Are you adding the account in the new Outlook app or the classic Outlook app?

In Outlook, go to File, Account Settings, then select New Account and enter your email. When prompted, choose IMAP and fill in these fields exactly. Incoming mail server: imap.centurylink.net, Port: 993, Encryption method: SSL or TLS. Outgoing mail server: smtp.centurylink.net, Port: 587, Encryption method: STARTTLS. Check the box for outgoing server requires authentication and use the same username and password. Select Next, then Finish, and restart Outlook so it syncs.

Unfortunately, I am not tech savvy so I could not find the Tls referenced in the answer. I do not know the fields to fill in.
