making university id for microsoft account

Question

Today i tried get first ms azure package then ms sql package from my university email.but cant make ms email through uni email.i want quick reply this is urgent.my uni email ******@uom.lk

I think ur uni mail isn’t bound to aad’s identity plane, so ms can’t mint the acct at all… try a clean signup at signup.live.com, and if it still blocks that domain, only ur uni can enable the aad mapping — otherwise use a personal mail as the fallback.

To use the university email to get Azure for Students and other student offers, a Microsoft account must first exist for that email address.

Follow these steps:

1. Create a Microsoft account with the university email
   • Go to the Microsoft account sign-up page.
   • When asked for an email, enter the university address in the form ******@uom.lk.
   • If the domain uom.lk is associated with your university’s Active Directory, that account may already be treated as a Microsoft account. Otherwise, complete the sign-up form to create a new Microsoft account with that email.
   • Check the university mailbox for the verification email and complete verification.
   If sign-in shows an error like “This Microsoft account doesn’t exist,” the solution is to create a new Microsoft account with the university email and then try again.
2. Use the university Microsoft account to get Azure for Students
   • After the Microsoft account is created and verified, sign in to the Azure for Students offer page using the university email.
   • Make sure the eligibility requirements are met:
     • Age 18 or older.
     • Currently a full-time student at an accredited, degree‑granting institution.
     • Able to verify academic status using the institution email.
   • Complete the verification flow. If the system cannot verify automatically, follow any “verify in a different way” option that appears and provide accurate information.
3. If the university email still cannot be used
   • Confirm with the university IT/administration that the uom.lk address is active and not blocked from receiving external emails.
   • If using Azure Dev Tools for Teaching via the Azure Education Hub, the university domain must be registered by the subscription administrator. If it is registered, students with the same email domain automatically get access once they have a Microsoft account matching their university email.
   • If access problems continue, use the Microsoft student support page mentioned in the Azure Dev Tools for Teaching documentation or contact the university’s IT helpdesk so an admin can check domain and access configuration.

Once the Microsoft account is correctly created and verified for the university email, it can be used to sign in to Azure for Students, Azure Dev Tools for Teaching, and other student benefits.
