I did not download this, did not use this, do not need this and I understand there is a yearly charge for it. I want to return for full refund $17.?? And cancel subscription immediately.

I see no way to do this so please advise how to immediately and help me fix this problem.

    Hi LisaSigona-1692,

Please note that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data.

I understand how concerning it is to see a large charge for something you didn’t intend to buy or use. Your request for refund is totally reasonable. However, I need to clarify so expectations are clear:

Microsoft Q&A is just a public peer-to-peer forum, limited to providing technical support. Payment-related issues often involve privacy information, and we do not have access to such sensitive data and cannot process refunds and subscription. Here's the suggested path in your situation:

    1. Sign in to your Microsoft account at https://account.microsoft.com/services
    2. If Lifetime AnyScan ISP appears in the list, select Cancel subscription
    3. In the same page, go to Orders History > Request a refund
    4. If the option is not available, you must contact Microsoft Store Support:
      • Visit Contact Us - Microsoft Support > Sign in
      • Type in your problem > click Get Help to make request
      • Scroll to the bottom and click Contact Support to connect to agent
      • Select category again > click Next and you should be added to a chat queue

Note: The support contact team only works at certain times, so if the last window shows that it's unavailable, try opening it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. This way, they can call you and help you.

You’re right to request refunds over an app you don't use. It just needs to be handled by the correct support channel, not here in a public forum for technical issues.

To request a refund and cancel this purchase/subscription, use Microsoft’s self-service refund and subscription tools and, if needed, contact support directly.

    1. Check where the purchase was made
      • If the Lifetime AnyScan IAP was bought through the Apple App Store on iPhone, Microsoft cannot cancel or refund it. In that case, request a refund from Apple using their process: see Apple App Store purchases in the note under step 1 here: “If you purchased a Microsoft subscription from Google Play or the Apple app store, contact their customer support for cancellation or refund. For Apple App Store purchases, request a refund from Apple support.”
      • If it was truly purchased from Microsoft Store (charged by Microsoft, visible in your Microsoft account order history), follow the steps below.
    2. If it is a Microsoft subscription (IAP billed by Microsoft)
      1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account that was charged.
      2. Find the subscription related to AnyScan.
      3. Select Manage.
        • If you see Turn on recurring billing instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to expire and will not renew; no further action is needed to stop future charges.
      4. On the next page, select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel, depending on what appears).
      5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete cancellation.
      6. During this flow, eligibility for a refund is evaluated. In some countries, prorated refunds are available for Microsoft subscriptions; see the note about “Countries with prorated refunds for Microsoft subscriptions” in the same article.
    3. If it is a one-time digital purchase from Microsoft Store
      • If you do not see a subscription entry but see a one-time charge in your Microsoft order history, use the refund process for Microsoft Store purchases:
        • Go to your Order history at https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders.
        • Locate the order and use the refund/return option if available, or follow the link to Returning items you bought from Microsoft for exchange or refund from the cancellation article if the Cancel option is not present.
    4. If the charge is accidental or unauthorized
      • For accidental or unauthorized purchases, the guidance is to use the refund process described in Returning items you bought from Microsoft for exchange or refund from the “Cancel an order or pre-order from Microsoft Store” article.
      • If you suspect the account was used without permission, follow the steps in How to recover a hacked or compromised Microsoft account and How to help protect your Microsoft account (linked from the same article) to secure the account.
    5. If online options do not work
      • If there is no Cancel or Request a return option, or the item does not appear under your signed-in account, contact Microsoft Store or Sales support directly using the help-with-microsoft-store-purchases support links in the refund/returns articles.

For any purchase actually made via Apple on iPhone, the refund and cancellation must be handled by Apple support, not Microsoft.
