"Show Original Size" button blocking signature every email

My company is exploring new formats for our signatures across the entire company so we can include our logo. I created a very simple solution - a table with the information on the left, and the logo on the right, and our confidentiality disclaimer on the bottom. However, every email I send initially has this completely irrelevant and non-functional Show Original Size button on it that obscures our information. See screenshot:

It is not covering an image, it is covering actual text in the signature field. When you click on it, it does nothing, but disappears. At first, it was tolerable, but after so many emails, it has become extremely annoying across the entire company, because it is not supposed to do that.

What is the issue and how can we resolve it?

    Hi @Kevin Winslow

Thank you for your response. I apologize for the confusion in my previous response. I misunderstood where the behavior was occurring.

Since the “Show original size” option only appears after the email is sent, this points to a rendering issue in the message view rather than anything within the compose window or something you can directly edit or remove from the signature itself.

Based on your description, this aligns with a known quirk in how Outlook processes and displays certain signature elements (especially when images and tables are involved). Even when it appears to be covering text, the control is typically being triggered by how the logo or its container is interpreted after delivery.

At this point, because the behavior is happening post-send and isn’t visible or editable during composition, there isn’t a reliable client-side action to remove that button entirely. The most appropriate next step would be to have your IT administrator open a support ticket with Microsoft via the admin center. A technical support engineer can then initiate a remote session, review backend settings, and run diagnostics. If needed, they can escalate the case to specialized engineering teams who are well-equipped to perform advanced troubleshooting and provide targeted solutions.

    Hi @Kevin Winslow

Thank you for reaching out and for sharing the detailed description and the screenshot. I can absolutely see why this becomes disruptive when you are trying to roll out a consistent company signature. What you are seeing is a Outlook compose experience issue that has been reported by other users. In those reports, the “Show original size” box shows up in the compose window and can end up sitting on top of the first line of the message or the signature. In many cases, it is linked to the signature content itself, even when it looks like it is covering “normal text.”

Below are the practical fixes that have worked for others, starting with the fastest.

    1. Remove or move the box from inside the signature editor

Several users have confirmed that if the “Show original size” box is visible inside the signature editor, you can treat it like an object and move it out of the way

To do this, please follow these steps:

    • Open Settings (gear icon), then navigate to Accounts > Signatures.
    • Click inside the signature editor. If you see the “Show original size” box, try clicking it and dragging it away from the signature content.
    • Select Save, then create a new email to test the change.
    1. Recreate the signature

If the box returns, recreating the signature as the next step if moving it does not resolve the issue. A practical way to do this without losing your work is:

    • Copy your current signature content into a separate document for safekeeping (text, logo, disclaimer, links).
    • Create a brand new signature and rebuild it by pasting content back carefully. This helps avoid reintroducing problematic hidden formatting.
    • Save it, set it as the default, then test by creating a brand new email and also replying to an email thread.
    1. Contact Microsoft Support

If the issue persists after taking these steps, it appears to require a deeper investigation at the backend level. While I would love to resolve this directly, my current scope and resource limitations do not allow access to the internal systems needed for this type of troubleshooting. The best next step is to have your IT administrator submit a support ticket through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

Once the ticket is created, a technical support engineer will be able to initiate a secure remote session, review backend configurations, run diagnostics, and escalate the case to specialized engineering teams if necessary. These teams are equipped to perform advanced troubleshooting and provide targeted solutions.

As moderators, our role is to offer guidance and general troubleshooting steps. Although we do not have access to administrative tools required for backend fixes, we truly appreciate your understanding of these limitations.
