I am having many difficulties with a number of computer mouse (mice?). I've become so frustrated with several of them that I simply smash them and throw them away.

They will move erratically, require multiple "clicks" and then often very hard clicks to work.

What is a good wired mouse for Windows 11?

    Hi,

It really depends on what you use your computer for – whether it's for work, simple daily tasks, or gaming.

Most USB mice work with Windows without compatibility issues.

Could you describe what you need so I can help you find the ideal mouse?

    Thanks

For Windows 11, any modern wired USB mouse that is supported by Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center and meets the basic Windows 11 requirements will work well. A recommended option from the Microsoft ecosystem is the Microsoft Ergonomic Mouse.

Key points for Microsoft Ergonomic Mouse on Windows 11:

    1. Compatibility and setup
      • Designed to work with Windows 11 and Windows 10.
      • Connection is simple: plug the USB end of the mouse into a USB port on the PC and it is ready to use.
    2. Reliability and comfort
      • It is a wired mouse designed for fast mobility and reliability.
      • The design is intended to help work all day without fatigue, which can help reduce the tendency to press very hard on the buttons.
    3. Improved control via settings
      • On Windows 11: go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse to adjust:
        • Pointer speed
        • Primary button (left/right)
        • Scroll behavior
      • These settings can help reduce erratic movement by tuning pointer speed and behavior.
    4. Advanced customization (optional)
      • Install Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center to further personalize button actions and behavior for supported devices, including the Ergonomic Mouse. This can improve responsiveness and usability.
    5. Other supported wired options
      • The Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center supports many Microsoft wired mice (for example, Ergonomic Mouse, Comfort Mouse series, Classic IntelliMouse, Pro Intellimouse, and others). Any of these supported models are good choices for Windows 11 if a wired device is preferred.

If erratic movement and hard clicks persist even with a quality wired mouse, also check for:

    • A clean, non-reflective surface under the mouse.
    • No debris around the sensor or buttons.
    • Correct pointer speed and button settings in Windows 11 mouse settings.
