    Hi Laura Ahlberg,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand how unsettling it is to move to a new laptop and then find your calendar missing, especially if you depended on Outlook Classic to manage your schedule.

I can see there is already a Q&A Assist reply in this thread explaining that calendar recovery depends on where the data was originally stored, and that explanation is correct. If you’ve already tried the steps outlined there, please let me know what you observed. I’d like to add some important context that often explains this situation after a device upgrade.

When Outlook Classic is removed during a laptop upgrade, calendars that were stored locally do not automatically move into the new Outlook. In practice, this usually means one of the following applies:

    • If your calendar was part of an online mailbox (such as Outlook.com, Microsoft 365, or Exchange), it should still exist and appear once the same account is added to the new Outlook.
    • If the calendar was created in Outlook Classic using a local data file, it would not transfer to the new laptop unless the original data file was copied over.
    • The new Outlook currently cannot display calendar items that are stored only in a local Outlook data file. Those calendar items must first be opened in Outlook Classic and moved into a mailbox calendar before they can appear in the new Outlook.

A quick way to confirm which situation applies is to sign in to your account using Outlook on the web and check whether the calendar appears there. If it does not, that strongly indicates the calendar was stored locally on the previous device.

If you still have access to the old laptop or its backup, the calendar may be recoverable by opening it in Outlook Classic and moving the items into your mailbox calendar. If the original data file is no longer available, the calendar cannot be reconstructed in the new Outlook.

Please note that this is a public community forum, and contributors here do not have access to your devices, backups, or mailbox contents. Our role is to help clarify how the data is stored and what recovery paths are realistically available.

I hope this helps explain why the calendar is missing after the upgrade. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Calendar data depends on where it was originally stored.

    1. If the calendar was in a cloud account (Outlook.com, Microsoft 365, Gmail, Exchange), add the same account in new Outlook. The calendar should sync automatically.
    2. If the calendar was stored locally in old Mail/Calendar apps, export it there (ICS) and then import into new Outlook:
      • Export events from Mail/Calendar/People as described in the export article.
      • In new Outlook: Calendar → Add calendar → Upload from file → Browse → select the ICS → choose target calendar → Import.
    3. If the calendar was in a local Outlook Classic data file (.pst) on the old laptop, that file must be copied from the old system or backup and opened in Outlook Classic on the new laptop. Without the original PST or an online account, the calendar cannot be reconstructed.
