My Pc lists old messages in the Phone Link program. They are not on my phone. I'd like to clean the message board on my PC Phone Link Page. What needs to be done?

    Dear Jeffrey Brott

I understand you would like to remove old messages that are still showing in Phone Link on your PC, even though they are no longer visible on your phone. I can see how that would be confusing.

At the moment, Phone Link does not provide a direct option to delete or manage text messages from the PC side. The Messages section in Phone Link is a synced view, so if old threads remain there, the next step is usually to refresh the synced data between the phone and the PC.

To help narrow this down, could you please confirm a few details for me?

    • Are you using an Android phone or an iPhone with Phone Link?
    • On your phone, do those messages appear anywhere under Archived, Spam/Junk, or Blocked folders in the messaging app?
    • Are the old messages showing in Phone Link just one or two conversations, or does this happen with multiple message threads?
    • Which messaging app are you using on the phone?

In the meantime, please try the steps below:

    1. Check the message folders on the phone
    • Please open the messaging app on your phone and check whether the same conversations are still present in archived, spam, junk or blocked.
    1. Reset the Phone Link app on the PC
    • Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps
    • Find Phone Link > Advanced options
    • Choose Terminate (if available), then select Reset
    • After that, restart the PC and open Phone Link again to allow it to sync the phone.
    1. Unlink and link the devices again
    • On the phone:
      • Open Link to Windows
      • Go to the linked Microsoft account
      • Sign out / unlink the account
    • On the PC:
      • Open Phone Link > Settings > Devices
      • Remove the phone / add it again and complete the pairing steps
    1. Check for updates
    • Please also make sure Phone Link on the PC and Link to Windows on the phone are updated.

While my initial response may not fully resolve the issue, I truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together toward identifying the most effective solution. Thank you so much for your understanding.

I hope these steps help clear the old messages from Phone Link and refresh the message view on your PC. Wishing you a smooth experience getting everything back in sync.

Phone Link does not support managing or deleting messages from the PC side. Messages shown in Phone Link are a synced view and cannot be cleared directly on the PC.

    Key points:

    • Messages cannot be deleted or managed in Phone Link on Windows: “You can't manage or delete messages on your PC.”
    • For Android, Phone Link shows SMS/MMS from the last 30 days to minimize bandwidth and improve performance. As messages age past 30 days (or are removed from the phone), they will no longer appear.
    • For iPhone via Bluetooth, only messages sent/received while connected are visible; disconnecting Bluetooth removes that history from Phone Link.

To “clean” what appears in Phone Link:

    1. Delete or manage the messages directly on the phone (in the default SMS/iMessage app).
    2. For Android, wait until older messages fall outside the 30‑day window; they will stop appearing in Phone Link.
    3. If needed, unlink and re‑set up the phone connection (this resets the synced view but does not provide selective deletion on the PC).

There is currently no way to selectively clear or edit the message list only on the PC.
