BitLocker recovery key prompt; have never used BitLocker.

Windows 11 Home recently pushed an update. When HP Envy desktop next booted, was prompted for BitLocker recovery key. Since I have never used BitLocker, I don’t have a key. Suspect this was a BIOS update. Any workaround besides wiping my C: drive?

Windows 11 Home enables Device encryption during the out of box setup. At that point is should save the recovery key to the Microsoft account used during the setup process.

If it didn't the only option is a clean install, deleting all data on the encrypted drive. Sorry, there is no workaround option.

Hi, I'm Rodrigo and I will help you.
Since you have Windows 11 Home, it should not activate BitLocker automatically for your drive, since this feature is not available on Windows 11 Home.
You can check if the BitLocker key is attached to your Microsoft account; enter your account on the page below to see the BitLocker keys linked to your account.
