    Hello,

Can you launch any of the apps, like Word, Excel, etc, then go to Files > Accounts > Update license, sign in again when prompted. See if that helps.

If not, you need to contact Best Buy to find out what's going on, to make sure the subscription is active and there's no billing issue, etc.

Microsoft explains it here regarding how subscription purchased via third party is managed: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/manage-your-microsoft-365-subscription-purchased-through-a-third-party-44749f45-4c0b-5d41-a73f-7634b8d2a763

The “subscription expired” message after renewal usually means either the renewal has not been fully activated yet, or the apps are still using the old license information.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Confirm the subscription is actually active
      • Go to the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services/
      • Sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used (or created) when the Best Buy purchase was redeemed.
      • Check the Microsoft 365 entry:
        • If it shows Has recurring billing or an Expires on [future date] in 2026, the subscription is active.
        • If it still shows expired or an old date, the renewal may not have been applied correctly and support is needed.
    2. If the subscription is active but apps still say “expired”
      • Close all Office apps (Word, Excel, etc.).
      • Reopen one app (for example Word).
      • Go to File > Account.
      • Make sure it is signed in with the same Microsoft account that shows the active subscription online.
      • Use the option there to Update license or sign out and sign back in with the correct account.
      • This refreshes the license and usually removes the “subscription expired” banner.
    3. If a product key is requested
      • For a Best Buy purchase, the subscription normally comes with a product key card or a digital key/activation link from Best Buy.
      • If Office explicitly prompts for a key and the subscription is not yet active under the Microsoft account, the key must be entered at https://www.microsoft365.com/setup or when prompted in Office. See guidance in Using product keys with Microsoft 365.
    4. If notifications continue after renewal
      • Check whether the renewal date and expiration date online look correct. If they do not, contact Microsoft Support as described in the references.
    5. If the renewal is not visible at all
      • If the Best Buy purchase does not appear under Services & subscriptions and there is no active subscription, contact Best Buy with the purchase receipt to confirm that the Microsoft 365 key or entitlement was issued, and then contact Microsoft Support with that information.
