I reconnect my HP printer scanner to my computer after having it the computer rebuilt following a hackers intervention. The printer is working but I cannot get the program up and running so the scanner works.

    Hi,

If you are using it via USB cable or Wi-Fi:

Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth and devices, find the printer > press Enter ..., select Remove devices.

After removing, if it's via USB, disconnect the printer.

Open the command prompt (admin) and run the commands: sfc /scannow and dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth, wait for the process to finish and restart the computer. After restarting, you will download the offline driver installer from the link below and follow the instructions:

    https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/OJP8020/HPEasyStart-13.6.5-OJP8020_49_11_4670_1_Webpack.exe

The link above is for the printer driver provided by HP.

After finishing, check if the scanner was installed as well. If not, go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners > Add devices and see if the scanner appears. Click Add or Connect.

Follow these steps in Windows 11 to get the HP 8025e scanner working again.

    1. Remove the existing printer/scanner entry
      1. Select Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
      2. Under Printers & scanners, select the HP 8025e.
      3. Select Remove device and confirm.
    2. Reinstall the printer (this also reinstalls the basic scan support) If the printer is wireless (on Wi‑Fi):
      1. Make sure the HP 8025e is powered on and connected to the same Wi‑Fi network as the PC.
      2. In Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, select Add a printer or scanner.
      3. Wait while Windows searches; select the HP 8025e when it appears, then choose Add device.
      4. When installation completes, print a test page to confirm the printer side is working.
If the printer is connected by USB (local printer):
      1. Connect the HP 8025e to the PC with the USB cable and turn it on.
      2. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
      3. If Windows does not install it automatically, select Add a printer or scanner and choose the HP 8025e when it appears, then Add device.
    3. If Windows does not install the device automatically
      1. In Printers & scanners, choose Add a printer or scanner.
      2. When the HP 8025e is not added automatically, select Add manually.
      3. Choose Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings, then Next.
      4. Select Use an existing port and pick the port the printer is connected to (USB, LPT, or COM), then Next.
      5. When prompted for a driver:
        • If there is an HP driver disc, select Have Disk; otherwise select Windows Update.
      6. After Windows updates the list, choose HP in the left column and the closest matching model in the right column, then Next.
      7. Complete the wizard, then select Print a test page to confirm.
    4. Install or update HP’s full driver/software package
      • If scanning still does not work after Windows has added the printer, install the latest full driver and scanning software for the HP 8025e from HP’s support site. This package typically includes the scan application and TWAIN/WIA drivers that Windows apps (like Windows Fax and Scan or HP Smart) need.
      • After installing HP’s software, restart the PC and test scanning from the HP app and from Windows Fax and Scan.
    5. Verify scanner function
      1. Open Start and search for Windows Fax and Scan.
      2. Select New Scan.
      3. Choose the HP 8025e from the scanner list and try a test scan.

If the printer prints but scanning still fails after reinstalling and updating drivers, repeat the remove/reinstall steps and then check HP’s troubleshooting for that specific model.
