A Microsoft 365 Personal subscription bought at Best Buy does not download as a single “product” to an Android phone. The key is tied to a Microsoft account, and then the Office apps are installed from the app store.
Use these steps:
- Redeem and link the product key to a Microsoft account
- On a PC or browser, sign in with a Microsoft account at the site provided with the Best Buy purchase (or follow Best Buy’s redemption instructions).
- Enter the product key from the card/receipt.
- After redemption, the subscription is attached to that Microsoft account under Services & subscriptions.
- Verify the subscription is active
- Go to the Microsoft account Order history or Services & subscriptions page and confirm the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription is listed and active.
- If the product key does not work or is rejected, contact Best Buy to resolve or refund, as invalid or blocked keys must be handled by the seller.
- Install Office apps on the Samsung Galaxy A9
- On the Galaxy A9, open the Google Play Store.
- Install the individual apps needed (for example, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Sign in to activate on Android
- Open one of the installed apps (for example, Word).
- When prompted, sign in with the same Microsoft account used to redeem the product key.
- The app will detect the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription and unlock the premium features on the phone.
- If download or install still fails on the phone
- Check that the Galaxy A9 has enough storage and a stable internet connection.
- Make sure the Google Play Store is working normally and that Android is up to date.
If the subscription is not visible under the Microsoft account after redemption, or the key is accepted but no product appears, contact Microsoft Support using the official support channel for further help.
