PIN code forgotten

PIN code forgotten. Is-it possible to change the PIN code or to re installed windows on my PC Asus Expertbook 14 ?

If you have forgotten your PIN code, do you have the option to select another sign in option and choose to log into Windows with your Microsoft account password?

If you still cannot get into Windows, are you able to reset Windows from inside the recovery environment using these steps.

Click the power button on the Login screen.

Press the Shift Key and click Restart

Your PC will boot into the Windows Recovery Environment

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Reset this PC

Choose to keep your files and apps, just your files or to keep nothing

Then start the Reset

Yes, it is possible either to change/reset the PIN or to reinstall Windows.

To change or reset the PIN (recommended first):

1. On the Windows sign-in screen, under the PIN box, look for I forgot my PIN.
   • If it is available, select it and follow the on-screen steps to verify the account and create a new PIN. If there are multiple accounts on the device, select the correct one. This works for Microsoft accounts, not local accounts.
2. If I forgot my PIN is not shown, sign in using the account password instead:
   • On the sign-in screen, select Sign-in options, then choose Enter your password, and sign in.
   • After signing in, open Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options (or use this shortcut: Sign-in options).
   • Select PIN (Windows Hello) → Change PIN and follow the instructions, or select I forgot my PIN there and follow the steps to set a new one.

If the password is also forgotten:

1. For a Microsoft account:
   • On the sign-in screen, select I forgot my password, or
   • Select Sign-in options → Web sign-in, follow the prompts, then choose Forgot my password, or
   • From another device, go to Reset password and reset the Microsoft account password, then return to the PC and sign in with the new password and reset the PIN as above.
2. For a local account:
   • On the sign-in screen, switch to password sign-in.
   • Select the password entry button, then OK, then Reset password.
   • Answer the security questions configured for the local account and set a new password, then sign in and reset the PIN from Settings as above.

Reinstalling Windows:

If none of the above works or access to the account cannot be recovered, Windows can be reinstalled on the Asus ExpertBook. Reinstalling (resetting) Windows will typically remove apps and may remove data depending on the chosen option, so it should be used as a last resort after trying password and PIN recovery.
