get a refund for microsoft365

Question

I though i turned of recurring billing but i guess not and it charged me about an hour ago and i want my refund back

To contact Microsoft Support:

1. Visit this site: Contact – Microsoft Support
2. Type Contact in the search box.
3. Now, click on Get Help and select Contact Support or enter below to contact support.
4. Go to the Products & Services tab and choose the Microsoft 365 & Office category.
5. On the Category tab, choose Manage my subscription.
6. Go to Confirm.
7. You can now choose the Chat with a support agent option in your web browser.

Please note that the chat support team only works during certain working hours. Therefore, if the last window indicates that you are unavailable, try opening it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. That way, they can call you and help you.

To get a refund for a Microsoft 365 subscription that just renewed, cancel the subscription first; refund eligibility is then determined automatically based on Microsoft’s refund rules and your country.

Follow these steps to cancel and check for refund eligibility:

1. Go to the Microsoft 365 services page: https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365
2. Sign in with the same Microsoft account that was charged.
3. Find the Microsoft 365 subscription that was just renewed and select Manage.
   • If you see Turn on recurring billing instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to expire and will not be charged again; in that case, no further action is needed for cancellation.
4. On the next page, select Cancel (it may appear as Upgrade or Cancel).
5. Follow the on-screen steps to complete cancellation. During this process, Microsoft will show whether a refund will be issued based on timing and local policy.

Additional notes:

• Not all cancellations result in a refund; eligibility depends on factors such as country and timing of cancellation.
• If the subscription was purchased through Google Play or the Apple App Store, the refund must be requested from those stores instead:
  • For Google Play purchases, see Learn about Google Play refund policies.
