Based on the details provided, this subscription is billed under a Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA). You mentioned that you’ve tried multiple times to turn off recurring billing and cancel the subscription from the Microsoft 365 admin center, but the options don’t respond when selected.

When billing actions such as Edit recurring billing or Cancel subscription don’t work as expected, the next step is to have the charge reviewed by the Microsoft Billing team. For MCA subscriptions, refund eligibility is time‑sensitive, as there is typically a limited cancellation window (up to 7 days) to request a prorated refund, depending on how the subscription was purchased (for example, through Microsoft or a reseller partner).

In this situation, contacting Microsoft’s Billing Support team directly is the fastest and most appropriate way to review the charge and confirm any available refund options for your account.

For more details, please refer to: Cancel your subscription when you have an MCA billing account type

Here’s what your Microsoft 365 Global Admin should do next:

    • Submit a Service Request: The Global Admin should create a service request with Microsoft Support to get the appropriate assistance. For detailed instructions on how to get support, please refer to: Get support for Microsoft 365 for business
    • If your subscription is managed through a Microsoft partner or reseller, they can also assist with opening a support request and liaising with Microsoft on your behalf.

To help the support team assist you quickly, please have the following ready:

    • Invoice number or reference
    • Subscription ID (if applicable)

Before submitting the ticket, make sure the Support Assistant is turned Off as several customers have reported that when the Support Assistant is enabled, the Contact Support option may not appear.

As shown in the screenshot, simply switch Support Assistant > Off, then enter your issue description. Once disabled, the Contact Support button should appear, allowing you to submit the ticket normally.

As a forum moderator, I’m unfortunately don’t have access to internal systems or the ability to view or process support cases, including refund or service requests. I apologize that I can’t help further from the forum side, but contacting Microsoft’s Billing Support team directly is the only effective next step.

Hopefully it will help work with your issue and if you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

The charge is for an active Microsoft 365 Business Premium subscription under an MCA (Microsoft Customer Agreement) billing account. Turning off recurring billing alone does not immediately cancel the subscription; it only prevents renewal at the end of the term. To stop further charges and request a refund, use the supported cancellation and refund paths.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Determine cancellation eligibility
      • With an MCA billing account, a prorated credit or refund is only available if cancellation occurs within seven days after the start or renewal of the subscription. After that seven‑day window, the subscription cannot be canceled for a refund; instead, recurring billing must be turned off so it does not renew again.
      • Check the subscription’s start/renewal date in the Microsoft 365 admin center on the Your products page.
    2. Cancel the subscription (if within the allowed window)
      • Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center → BillingYour products.
      • Select the Microsoft 365 Business Premium subscription.
      • In Billing settings under Subscription status, choose Cancel subscription.
      • If still within the grace period, select a cancellation reason and confirm.
      • If outside the grace period, only turning off recurring billing is available; in that case, use Edit recurring billing → set to OffSave so the subscription will not renew again.
    3. If the Cancel/Recurring billing buttons do nothing
      • Ensure the signed‑in account has the required role: Billing account owner or contributor, or Billing profile owner or contributor for MCA accounts. Without these roles, cancellation will not succeed.
      • If the correct role is assigned and the UI still does not respond, contact Microsoft support from the Microsoft 365 admin center and request assistance canceling the subscription. If within the seven‑day MCA cancellation window, explicitly request a prorated credit or refund.
    4. Why charges continue after trying to cancel
      • If recurring billing is only turned off, the subscription remains active until its expiration date and continues to be billed through the current term.
      • If cancellation is attempted after the MCA seven‑day window, the subscription cannot be canceled for a refund; charges continue for the remainder of the term even if it is not renewed.
    5. Refund request
      • For personal subscriptions, refunds are handled according to the Microsoft subscription refund policy. Use the refund process described in the refund article after canceling or turning off recurring billing, and eligibility will be evaluated based on timing and policy.

If cancellation cannot be completed online or the account roles cannot be adjusted, contact Microsoft support directly from the admin center for manual cancellation and refund review.
