Windows 11 25H2 Mouse Double-Click Kernel Bug

I am writing to express my escalating frustration and deep concern about a critical input handling bug that arose after the Windows 11 25H2 update. Prior to this update, my system and all input devices functioned perfectly. Now, both my computer and those of several family members despite differing hardware configurations suffer from erratic click behaviour. Single clicks randomly register as double or triple clicks, and drag actions drop mid-movement, making even simple tasks like text selection, file organization, or browsing completely unreliable. Worse still, this bug extends into gaming E.g. like in Call of Duty, for example, the mouse input fails entirely: shots are double-fired, or the weapon locks up and stops firing, causing a total freeze in action. I have exhausted every possible solution: I’ve performed clean Windows installations, tested in Safe Mode, and adjusted every setting imaginable double-click speed, registry values, and driver configurations but none of these measures have resolved the problem. This strongly indicates a regression deep within the Windows kernel and input stack, where the OS is misinterpreting click and drag events at a low level. This is no longer a minor annoyance; it is a fundamental, kernel-level failure that undermines my productivity and even my ability to enjoy games. I implore you to prioritize this issue, conduct a thorough investigation of the input handling at the kernel level, and provide a fix as soon as possible. I am at my wits’ end, and this regression must be addressed before it causes irreparable disruption to both work and leisure.

    Welcome StarStorm,

"Please note that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data."

I understand how frustrating it can be after installing Windows 11 version 25H2, you are experiencing erratic mouse behavior such as unintended double or triple clicks, interrupted drag actions, and unreliable input both in general use and during gaming, even after clean installations and extensive configuration changes.

Before moving forward, please confirm a couple of details to help narrow down the scope of the issue:

    • Does this behavior still occur when using a different mouse model (wired vs wireless) on the same system?
    • Are all affected devices running the same Windows 11 build number of 25H2, or are there differences between them?

    Looking forward to your response.
