    Hello,

To create a new Outlook profile:

    1. First, close Outlook. Open Control Panel, and then click "Mail" (Microsoft Outlook).
    2. Click "Show Profiles," and then click "Add."
    3. Enter a new profile name, and then follow the prompts to re-add your email account.
    4. Select "Always use this profile," select the profile you just created from the drop-down list, and then click "OK."
    5. Reopen Outlook.

Check if everything is working correctly in the new profile.

Follow these steps in order on the PC with classic Outlook:

    1. Check Outlook’s connection status
      • Look at the bottom status bar in Outlook.
      • If it shows Disconnected, Working Offline, or Trying to connect…, Outlook is not reaching the mail server.
      • Go to Send/Receive tab → in Preferences group select Work Offline once to toggle it back online.
      • After it reconnects, click Send/Receive All Folders and test again.
    2. Confirm the PC is online
      • Open a browser (Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome).
      • Browse to http://www.microsoft.com or http://www.bing.com.
      • If these do not open, fix the Windows network first using the steps in Fix network connection issues in Windows, then try Outlook again.
    3. Check for oversized messages blocking send/receive
      • In Outlook, open the Outbox folder.
      • Open the oldest stuck message.
      • If it has large attachments (around 20 MB or more), remove or reduce them, or replace them with a link.
      • Save and resend, or delete the message and try a smaller one.
    4. Repair the Outlook profile (different from Office repair)
      • In Outlook, select FileAccount SettingsAccount Settings.
      • On the Email tab, select the affected account and choose Repair.
      • Complete the wizard and restart Outlook, then test send/receive.
    5. If errors persist, repair the data file
      • Many accounts use a local .pst file. Corruption can cause send/receive and server connection errors.
      • Run the Inbox Repair Tool (ScanPST) as described in Repair your Outlook personal folders file (.pst), then restart Outlook and test again.
    6. If still failing with “cannot connect to the server”
      • Run the classic Outlook for Windows connectivity troubleshooter from the Fix your Outlook email connection by repairing your profile article (requires Windows 10 or later and classic Outlook on the same PC), then follow the Get Help steps it opens.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, contact the email provider or ISP to confirm the correct server settings and that the mailbox is active.
