Microsoft locked my account for 9 months – no support, no explanation, no data access

I’m looking for any advice or escalation path.

On June 5, 2025, my Microsoft account (OneDrive) was suddenly locked with no warning. The only option was the Account Reinstatement form. After multiple automated replies, I received a final decision:

  • Violation: Abuse of Platform and Services

Service: Skype

Result: Violation confirmed

This makes no sense. I hadn’t used Skype for at least 6 months, plus Skype was already discontinued, and only for a few personal calls. No spam, no unusual activity.

The bigger issue: I cannot contact support because login is required. I had to use another account to reach them.

After many cases and calls over 9 months, support repeatedly says:

They cannot help

They cannot escalate

They cannot provide any details about what happened

Most recently, I asked whether the agent included key context (that I didn’t use Skype). He said he cannot share what was submitted internally or what response he received.

So effectively, requests are being sent internally without critical details—just “can this account be unlocked?”—and denied repeatedly.

At this point, I mainly want access to my data.

Has anyone successfully resolved something like this or found a way to escalate beyond standard support? I’m looking for any advice or escalation path.

    Hi Svitlana Titova,

It’s evident that you’ve already made repeated efforts through the available appeal and support channels, and having an account remain inaccessible for such a long period - especially when it contains important personal data - can be extremely discouraging.

From a community standpoint, this is a public, user‑to‑user forum. Contributors here don’t have access to internal enforcement or review systems, and we’re unable to see the specific signals or evidence that lead to a “violation confirmed” decision, or to influence those outcomes.

It’s completely understandable to seek clarity and a realistic way forward after exhausting the standard paths available to end users. Your post provides useful context for others who may encounter a similar situation, and hopefully community members with comparable experiences can share what they learned from their own attempts.
