I have a personal Microsoft account and trying to create an App registration for OAuth connectivity to be able to send emails via SMTP.
I believe I have configured my App registration correctly, but every time I log in into the account to authenticate, I get "null Improperly set entity fields". I'm not sure what is wrong.
Does this not work with personal accounts? I heard it doesn't and may need an admin account to configure some mailbox settings to enable Authenticated SMTP found in https://admin.exhange.microsoft.com, which I can't access. How do I go about getting access to this or is there a different way to access this for personal accounts?

No, this scenario will not work with a personal Microsoft account (Outlook/Hotmail/MSA).
Only Microsoft Entra ID (work or school) accounts are compatible with SMTP with OAuth (Modern Authentication); personal accounts are not. You are unable to set up mailbox-level SMTP settings or enable Authenticated SMTP because personal accounts do not have access to the Exchange Admin Center.
When the OAuth setup or endpoint requires an Entra ID tenancy context, which is unavailable for personal accounts, the error "null Improperly set entity fields" usually arises.
Personal accounts are not supported via SMTP OAuth. Change to a Microsoft 365 tenant account or use the Microsoft Graph API.

I'm currently using Microsoft Graph API (/me/sendMail). How do I check or confirm I have the correct assigned permissions for personal accounts?
I don't think I need all these, but it's what I currently have configured.

Mail.Send is enough and I see you have granted the API permission
I guess we'll need a Microsoft 365 tenant account after all since it doesn't work.

As discussed offline, the issue is resolved by changing scope as https://graph.microsoft.com/.default and the issue resolved!
