    Hi DIANA LOUISE,

When a saved password works in one browser but not another, it usually means the stored sign‑in information in the browser needs to be refreshed. This can happen if the password was changed previously or saved multiple times.

To resolve this in Microsoft Edge, please try the following checking steps:

    • Open Microsoft Edge and go to Settings
    • Select Passwords and autofill > Microsoft Password Manager
    • Locate the affected website and delete the saved entry
    • Close and reopen Edge
    • Sign in to the website manually and choose Save when prompted

    Additional checks (if needed)

    • Ensure Offer to save passwords is turned On in Edge password settings
    • Confirm only one password entry exists for the website (remove duplicates if present)
    • Try signing in using an InPrivate window to rule out extension interference

Refreshing the saved credential usually restores normal sign‑in behavior while allowing you to continue using Microsoft Edge as your preferred browser.

Something is not right. Microsoft doesn't know whether or not your passwords are valid. The only password that Microsoft knows is right or wrong is the password to your Microsoft account.

When passwords work in Google Chrome but not in Microsoft Edge, the issue is usually with how Edge is storing or using the credentials, not with the actual website passwords.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Check and clean up saved passwords in Edge
      1. In Edge, go to edge://settings/passwords or select Settings and more (…) > Settings > Profiles > Passwords.
      2. Find the affected site and check the saved username and password.
      3. If the saved password is wrong or outdated, delete that entry and sign in manually on the site; when prompted, save the new, correct password.
    2. If passwords were imported from Chrome, resolve conflicts
Edge can import passwords from Chrome. When it does, if there is already a password saved for the same site and username, Edge overwrites the existing one with the imported one; otherwise, existing passwords remain unchanged. If passwords were imported multiple times or changed on the site, some entries in Edge may now be incorrect.
      1. In Chrome, verify the correct password under Settings > Autofill > Passwords (chrome://settings/passwords).
      2. In Edge, compare and correct the corresponding entries under Passwords as above.
    3. Clear cached data in Edge (site may be using stale auth cookies)
      1. In Edge, select Settings and more (…) > History > Open history page.
      2. Select Delete browsing data.
      3. Set Time range to All time.
      4. Select at least Browsing history and Cached images and files, then select Clear now.
      5. Close Edge, reopen it, and try signing in again, typing the password manually once to confirm it works.
    4. Repair Edge without losing data (if behavior persists)
Since repair was already tried, repeat only if the above steps fail, as this ensures the installation is healthy:
      1. Close Edge for all users.
      2. Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      3. Select Microsoft Edge > Modify.
      4. Approve the prompt, ensure the device is online, then select Repair.
Browser data and settings should not be affected.
    5. Use Password Monitor to verify compromised passwords (optional)
If Edge flags passwords as compromised, that does not mean Edge leaked them; it means those credentials appear in third‑party data leaks. Even if they still work, they are unsafe and should be changed on the affected sites. Password Monitor only checks saved passwords against known compromised lists and helps identify which ones to update.

If, after correcting saved entries and clearing cache, a password still works in Chrome but not in Edge, always test by typing it manually in Edge (with password manager autofill disabled for that site) to confirm the site accepts it. If manual entry works, the issue is definitely with the stored credential in Edge and it should be deleted and re-saved.
