I bought a new computer from Costco in February. I received a 1 year subscription to microsoft 365 personal. It was activated Feb. 17. Now I have an email saying I need to pay $99.99 that my subscription expires March 23. NO, it should be good until Feb of 2027.

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

A 1-year Microsoft 365 Personal should not expire after 1 month.

To help narrow down the issue:

    1. Where exactly did you activate it? (preinstalled on the PC or via a product key?)
    2. Did you redeem it at https://account.microsoft.com/services?
    3. What subscription do you see listed there, and what is the exact expiry date shown?
    4. Do you have more than one Microsoft account signed in on that device?

    Sometimes this happens if:

    • A trial subscription (1 month) was activated instead of the full 1-year
    • The 1-year license was never properly redeemed
    • It was redeemed on a different Microsoft account

Also, the $99.99 email, can you confirm if it’s from Microsoft and not a scam? Check the sender carefully.

Please check your Services & Subscriptions page and tell me what it shows. That will help narrow this down quickly.
