Use the admin password reset and self‑service tools, depending on what still works for the account.

    1. If sign-in still works in the browser (password saved)
      1. Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
      2. Select the profile icon in the upper-right corner > View account.
      3. In the contact card, verify or update Alternate email and mobile phone number.
      4. Sign out.
      5. Sign in again, enter the admin username, select Next, then select Forgot password.
      6. Follow the wizard to reset the password using the alternate contact info.
    2. If sign-in does not work at all
      1. If there is another global admin in the organization, ask that admin to reset the password in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
      2. After the password is reset, sign in and immediately add valid alternate contact information (email and mobile phone) to avoid future lockouts.
      3. If there is no other global admin and sign-in is impossible, call Microsoft Support and request help with an admin password reset / tenant recovery. Use the business support entry points in the documentation and be prepared to verify identity and tenant ownership.
    3. If this is not a global admin but a regular user
      1. If self-service password reset is enabled, go to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/ and follow the steps.
      2. If self-service password reset is not enabled or backup email/phone are inaccessible, contact the organization’s Microsoft 365 administrator and ask them to reset the password.

If the account is for Azure or Intune, the same principles apply: use self-service password reset if enabled, otherwise have another admin reset the password, or contact Azure support if you are the only admin.
