I accidentally purchased Office Home 2024 yesterday and don't need it. I had forgotten that I already have Microsoft 365. How do I get a refund?

    Hello,

Because this is a perpetual license, most of the AI answers don't apply. You need to get in touch with billing directly in your case. Typically this is not refundable, but if you explain to support, they might make an exception.

To get help, open the "Get Help" app on your computer (just search for it in the Start menu). or go to https://support.microsoft.com/contactus, Type "Billing" and press Enter. On the next screen, click "Contact support" at the bottom of the page, then choose "Microsoft 365" > "Manage my subscription". You’ll then see the option to chat with a Microsoft support agent who has access to your account to help review the issue.

To request a refund for the accidental Office Home 2024 purchase, cancellation and refund eligibility must be checked through the Microsoft account that made the purchase.

    1. Go to the Services page for the Microsoft account that was used to buy Office: https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with that same account.
    2. Find the Office Home 2024 (or the relevant Office/Microsoft subscription or product) entry and select Manage.
      • If Manage is not shown and only Turn on recurring billing appears, the product is already set to expire and will not be charged again.
    3. On the next page, select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel, depending on what is shown) and follow the on-screen steps.
    4. During cancellation, the site will indicate whether the purchase is eligible for a refund. Not all cancellations result in a refund.
    5. If the purchase was made through Google Play or the Apple App Store instead of directly from Microsoft, contact their support to request a refund:
      • For Google Play: see Learn about Google Play refund policies.
      • For Apple App Store: request a refund from Apple support.
    6. In some countries (for example Canada, Israel, Korea, Turkey, and certain European countries for subscriptions longer than 1 month and renewed), prorated refunds may apply. Details are in the prorated refunds article linked from the refund help page.
    7. If additional help is needed (for example, if the charge is not recognized or the online flow does not offer a refund), contact Microsoft Support via the Contact Microsoft Support page and choose a billing/subscription category to reach a support agent.
