On Windows 11, Windows Media Player Legacy is available as an optional feature.

    To install it:

    1. Select Start > Settings.
    2. Go to System > Optional Features.
    3. Select View features.
    4. In the search box, type Windows Media Player Legacy.
    5. Check the box next to Windows Media Player Legacy.
    6. Select Next, then Add.
    7. Let Windows complete the installation, then restart if prompted.

After this, Windows Media Player Legacy (classic Windows Media Player) will be available alongside the new Media Player app.

    Hi,

You can install it via command prompt (admin) and run the command: DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:"WindowsMediaPlayer" /All

    or

If you are using Windows PowerShell (admin), run the command: Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature –FeatureName "WindowsMediaPlayer" -All -Online

    Restart your PC and check.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-media-player-legacy-e8f84f54-cd64-865c-2e83-1d8ec121b5b8

Select Start button, enter features in the search, and then select Turn Windows features on or off.

Expand Media Features and see whether the Windows Media Player check box is selected. If it is, clear the check box.

Select OK and then restart your PC. This will remove your current version of Windows Media Player.

After your PC has restarted, repeat step 1.

Expand Media Features and select the Windows Media Player check box.

Select OK and then restart your PC. This will reinstall the latest version of Windows Media Player for your system (Windows Media Player 12, with a few exceptions).
