I would like to cancel a free trial that I set up this morning. My goal was to access a teams call but even signing up for this business account didn't work. I do not nee the business standard account but the on line system will not let me cancel it. Can you help?

To cancel a Microsoft 365 Business free trial, use the Microsoft 365 admin center. The exact steps depend on the billing account type and whether it’s a trial or paid subscription.

For a free trial, the supported options are:

    1. Turn off recurring billing (recommended)
      • Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center with the same work account used to start the trial.
      • Go to BillingYour products / Subscriptions.
      • Select the Business Standard (or other) trial subscription.
      • Use the option to Turn off recurring billing.
      • This stops any future charges; the trial will simply expire at the end of the trial period.
    2. Cancel the subscription in the admin center (if available)
The ability to cancel directly depends on your billing account type:
      • MCA billing account type:
        • You can cancel and receive a prorated credit or refund only within seven days after the start or renewal of the subscription.
        • Use the cancellation steps in the Microsoft 365 admin center. If more than seven days have passed, turn off recurring billing instead so it does not renew.
      • MOSA billing account type:
        • If you cancel after you start or renew, you receive a prorated credit or refund.
        • If the subscription has 25 or fewer licenses, you can cancel online in the admin center.
        • If it has more than 25 licenses, first reduce licenses to 25 or fewer, then cancel.
If the online system will not let the subscription be canceled (for example, due to license count or billing type restrictions), turn off recurring billing and, if still needed, contact support from the admin center.
    3. If you cannot access or manage the subscription online
      • Confirm that you are signing in with the same business account that created the trial and that the account has the required billing/admin role.
      • If you still cannot cancel or turn off recurring billing, open a support request from the Microsoft 365 admin center (Help & Support) so an agent can review the specific order and tenant.

Note: Order numbers alone are not sufficient to cancel from the outside; cancellation must be done from within the tenant or via Microsoft support for that tenant.
