Duplicate iCloud Calendar entries in Outlook after sync with iPhone

I have the iCloud add-in for my Outlook 2013 so I can see the calendar entries I make via Outlook on my iPhone 8 as well. After making an appointment/event entry in Outlook on my iCloud Calendar and it sync's with my iPhone, a duplicate appointment/entry is added to my Outlook iCloud Calendar. I can only delete one of the entries, not both because apparently I do not have permissions to delete one of them. Not a big deal unless the appointment was cancelled and I don't want it on my calendar anymore. Even though two entries are showing on my Outlook iCloud Calendar, only one event/appointment is showing on my iPhone 8.

I have tried uninstalling iCloud on my Windows 10 Home laptop and re-installing, but didn't notice a "save duplicate events" as an option during the set-up portion. I have tried logging into my iCloud account on my laptop and unchecking the box for Outlook and rechecking the box, but this did not solve the problem. After I delete the appointment that I can delete it is no longer on the online iCloud Calendar or on my iPhone, but the one I cannot delete is still on my Outlook iCloud Calendar on my laptop. I do NOT have iCloud as my default data base for Outlook.

  1. Why am I getting duplicate events on my Outlook iCloud Calendar?
  2. Why can't I delete both events on my Outlook iCloud Calendar?
  3. How do I change "permissions" so I can access these events on my Outlook iCloud Calendar so I can delete them?

Thank you!

Tim

I have a partial answer and I am running Office 365. Microsoft does NOT know why it's producing duplicate entries; although this has happened to me twice and it seems to occur with some, but not all, software updates.  There is NO way to tell which entry is the good one (on the iCloud) and the bad one (the one on Outlook that can't be delete).

Below are the steps (albeit scary) to fix the problem:

    1. Close Outlook; I also turned off my phone just in case
    2. Open the iCloud app for Windows (not through the browser).  It will show 4 icloud categories: icloud drive; photos; mail, contacts, calendar and tasks; and bookmarks (see below)
    3. Uncheck mail, contacts, calendar and tasks and click apply.  At this point it will delete everything; be sure to delete with a copy (an option with the delete)
    4. Sign out of the iCloud app
    5. Sign into the iCloud app
    6. Check mail, contacts, calendar and tasks and click apply.  At this point it will resync icloud and outlook.
    7. Open outlook
    8. The duplicates can be deleted but knowing which is the "bad" duplicated is a guess (most cases for me was the second entry)

    Good luck everyone

    Garden Geek,

Thank you.  I have done something similar but found that when figuring out which events were duplicates,  and if I guess wrong, having to recreate the calendar event, at which point the problem will show itself yet again.   I will wait till we here from Apple or uSoft of a fix.

    Thanks again,

    JonL

I am having the same issues but it seems to be happening with recurring events and events with reminders.

Thanks in advance for any fixes that someone else might have done.
