Transferring or recovering access to a certification that is associated with an account that can no longer be accessed (such as a disabled former work account) cannot be handled through public forums or by moderators, and cannot be done directly by Microsoft Credentials Support if the underlying login account cannot be recovered.
For Microsoft Learn and certification profiles, access to credentials requires the ability to sign in with at least one valid Microsoft Learn login account. If access to the original account is lost and no alternate work or school account was added, this results in loss of access to the profile and its data, and Microsoft Credentials Support cannot transfer or restore the contents of that Learn profile.
The only supported recovery path is:
- Attempt to recover or regain access to the original login account using Microsoft Account self-service options (if it was a personal Microsoft account):
- Forgotten username: see "Forgotten your Microsoft account username".
- Username/password stopped working: see "My username and password have stopped working".
- Forgotten password: see "Reset a forgotten Microsoft Account Password".
- General help: use Microsoft Account Help self-service.
- If the account cannot be recovered and no alternate login was associated, the Learn profile and attached certifications from that account cannot be moved or reassigned to a different personal account.
For missing certifications on a current, accessible Learn profile (for example, if the exam was taken under a different login than expected), the supported steps are:
- Confirm that the AZ-900 certification was actually earned under the account currently in use by checking the credential requirements and ensuring the correct exam was passed.
- Verify that the correct Learn profile is being used:
- Check whether multiple Learn profiles exist under different login accounts (personal vs work/school) and sign in with each to see where the certification appears.
- Use the email address that received the original “Congratulations” email to identify which profile holds the certification.
- If the certification should appear on the current profile but does not, contact Microsoft Credentials Support for missing credentials using the official support channel.
If the former work account is fully deactivated and cannot be signed into or recovered, and no alternate account was added to that Learn profile, the AZ-900 certification associated with that profile cannot be transferred to a personal account.
